Do you directly advocate or litigate for families (for example, attend Team meetings or file due process hearings)?

No. My role as a Hearing Officer means I don’t represent families in school disputes. That allows me to give consultations that are 100% impartial.

What if I already know I want to litigate?

A consultation can help you assess whether your case is strong enough before committing to a lawyer or moving forward with formal litigation.

Do you handle other types of law?

No. My focus is only on special education and school discipline. I do not handle matters such as immigration, personal injury, or other unrelated areas of law.

What should I expect from a consultation?

We will review your concerns, talk through likely scenarios, and develop a practical strategy you can use right away. With a longer consultation, we can also review specific documents such as IEPs, 504 plans, or disciplinary notices.

If we consult, would this case go to you as a hearing officer or mediator?

No. If we consult and your case later escalates to a hearing or mediation, I would not be assigned to that matter due to conflict-of-interest rules. It would be assigned to a different hearing officer or mediator.
